First things first, I do not subscribe to overly restrictive diets. My aim is to help you celebrate food and learn to eat in a way that’s right for your own unique circumstances and health goals. I would rather focus on what you can eat rather than what you can’t.
I know that it’s no fun feeling unwell, especially when there don’t seem to be any answers when you seek help; I’ve been there. I also understand how confusing it is find the ‘right’ way to eat, because there is a constant, overwhelming bombardment of books, articles and social media posts telling us contradictory information about what we should or shouldn’t be eating!
My mission is to help you get your health back on track while finding the path to a happy and liberated relationship with food.
The fact is that to be optimally healthy all of the cells in your body need to function well and communicate with each other effectively. And the systems of your body – including your digestive, hormone and immune systems – need to be nurtured. Your body works as a whole. To me, it doesn’t make sense to approach the body as separates. And your own personal relationship with food is totally unique to you too.
It’s likely you have a strong hunch about what’s driving your symptoms. There is no-one who knows you better than you know yourself. However, it can be hard to see the wood for the trees sometimes, and that is where I feel best equipped to help. I’m keen to hear all about your health history and what’s been going on for you. We can start putting pieces of the puzzle together, and carve out a plan that enables you to reclaim your health and to find pleasure and happiness in mealtimes.
Factors such as genetics, microbiomes (the bacteria living in and on you), circadian rhythm (you daily and monthly cycles), resilience to stress and immune defences are all intrinsically involved in how your cells work, and ultimately, how good you feel. Nutritional status is crucial to all of these things working well.
I am constantly amazed by how stunning the human body is. Your body wants you to be fit and well, and has an outstanding ability to remedy and rebuild itself, so please don’t feel despondent or that you should put up with feeling run-down, or below-par. Also, confusion about what you should or shouldn’t eat stops here! There is no ‘one size fits all’ and generic diet plans simply don’t work, because the way you process food is unique to you and influenced by everything I’ve mentioned above.
