Becoming a client of mine and for personalised nutrition and lifestyle support takes you as a whole into account. Emotions as well as physical imbalances are considered and my aim is to discover what the underlying causes are for your health concern. I place focus on the different systems of your body that are influenced by nutritional status and lifestyle. This model for health care is increasingly referred to as functional or lifestyle medicine and your story is central to the process.
At your appointment I listen to your case history and consider your current diet and lifestyle. Once we establish your goals we devise a nutritional strategy and a diet and lifestyle programme is put together that is realistic and sensible. Sometimes tests or supplements are recommended. The tests I most commonly recommend include comprehensive stool analysis, food intolerance or sensitivity, comprehensive hormone profiles, full thyroid screen, functional blood chemistries and nutrient status assessment.
My general approach is food first, and my ultimate aim is that you feel safe and secure in the dietary recommendations we discuss together. Good food should be embraced and enjoyed, and I tend to prefer adding things into your diet rather than taking things out. Having a wide and joyful range of food and drinks to enjoy is the very best way to eat for health and wellbeing. I’m interested in your relationship with food, and how food fits into your life. You can read a little more about how I work with clients in this regard here.
My job is not to diagnose, claim to treat, or advise against medication; I prefer to work in harmony with conventional medicine.
My clinical work is wide and varied, and I am fortunate to have a wealth of experience to draw on thanks to many years spent working one-to-one with clients, running food-based group coaching programmes and the decade I have spent working as a lecturer at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition. The majority of my clients experience immune related health concerns such as digestive issues, hormone-related health problems, autoimmunity or those recovering from illness or a health scare. You can read feedback from some of my clients here.
The majority of my clinic work is online – by Skype or FaceTime. I am based in Twickenham for face-to-face appointments.
Working together is likely to involve a number of appointments, and it’s important we are the right fit for each other. I recommend arranging to have a preliminary chat by phone first for this reason.
Please get in touch if you’d like to have a preliminary chat or find out more about working together.
